12-Month Parental Leave Cover | Fixed-Term Contract

In partnership with the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trial Group (AGITG)
We’re seeking a Translational Research and Grants Lead to join AGITG—a leading non-profit dedicated to improving outcomes for people with GI cancers. This 12-month role covers parental leave and offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact, collaborative cancer research across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and internationally.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Research and managing a Translational Research Coordinator, you will:

Lead the Translational Research Program:
Oversee biospecimen collection and access across AGITG trials.
Coordinate lab networks and support TR projects and sub-studies.
Maintain SOPs and documentation for biospecimen management.
Collaborate with leading researchers to grow AGITG’s research portfolio.
 
Manage the AGITG Grants Office:
Align research concepts with competitive grant opportunities.
Support grant proposal development and submissions.
Manage post-award reporting and compliance.

Support Clinical Research:
Guide ethical/governance processes for biospecimen collection.
Prepare budgets, manage vendors, and facilitate trial specimen logistics.
Review TR components in publications and presentations.

Engage Stakeholders:
Promote AGITG’s research via fundraising and communications teams.
Support the Translational Research Committee and Annual Scientific Meeting sub-committee.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:
  • Tertiary qualification in science or healthcare.
  • Experience in clinical trials and health research (preferably oncology).
  • Practical experience with biospecimen handling.
  • Proven grant writing and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with NHMRC/MRFF requirements and ethics submissions.
  • Strong communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
  • Oncology background and strategic mindset.
  • Budgeting and financial oversight experience in research settings.
