- 15 months full-time contract with option to extend another 12 months
You will support nationally and internationally significant work across biotechnology, food and feed testing, biotherapeutics, and environmental and health applications. The laboratory operates at the cutting edge of bioanalysis, utilising advanced digital PCR technologies, with comprehensive training provided in measurement science, method validation, and accredited laboratory services.
This role is well suited to science graduates or experienced laboratory professionals looking to build a long-term career in applied molecular biology within a regulated, quality-driven laboratory environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse DNA, environmental, and food samples using validated molecular biology methods.
- Contribute to the preparation of laboratory protocols, technical reports, and quality documentation.
- Maintain laboratory reagents, consumables, and inventory to support project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Assist with routine maintenance of scientific instrumentation and coordinate calibration services as required.
- Organise national and international courier shipments of genetic reference materials.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, compliant, and well-organised laboratory environment.
- Effectively manage your workflow to deliver high-quality results within agreed timelines.
Ideal Candidate:
- Australian citizenship (mandatory).
- Tertiary qualification in molecular biology, genetics, biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent laboratory experience.
- Practical experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative laboratory team.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with a strong learner mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data analysis tools.
- Experience working in an accredited or regulated laboratory environment (highly regarded but not essential).
