About the role
As a Recruitment Consultant in the Scientific & Technical team, you will specialise in Quality Control & R&D recruitment across the life sciences sector.
You will work alongside an experienced manager with years of international life sciences recruitment behind her, building search strategies that place niche technical talent. This is a desk where deep market knowledge matters, and we will back you to develop it. To get you started, you will inherit existing QC and R&D clients: a warm start, not a full desk, with potential billings from day one and scope to build it out. As a small team we stay flexible, so where there is a market you can develop into other areas by agreement.
Key responsibilities
  • Co-create and deliver business plans and business development activities with achievable targets for both warm and developing clients
  • Develop and run targeted search strategies, candidate mapping, networking and client meetings.
  • Provide expert candidate care and conduct insightful, technically informed interviews.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients and candidates in a specialist, referral-driven market.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and contribute to team culture and operations.
What you bring
We are open to three profiles:
  • Life sciences recruitment: you already recruit in QC & R&D or more broadly in life sciences, understand this space, and want a blend of warm and developing desk in a specialist team that will invest in you.
  • Industry background: you come from QC, QA or R&D yourself (for example as a scientist, QA officer or R&D specialist), or you bring a sales or commercial background from within the sector, and you are interested in exploring recruitment as a career.
  • Specialist recruitment: you bring professional recruitment experience from a technical or STEM market, such as engineering, that suits the niche, search-led style of work we do.
In all cases you will bring:
  • A degree in Science, Engineering Commerce, HR or equivalent
  • Strong communication, curiosity and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, adaptable, determined and team-oriented mindset.
What's in it for you
  • Generous remuneration & commission: market-benchmarked base salary with quarterly, uncapped commission and no carry-over.
  • A warm and developing desk: you will inherit existing QC and R&D clients from day one, a warm start rather than a cold desk, with the opportunity (and reward) to build it into a full desk and grow into other areas by agreement.
  • Preferred supplier agreements with leading life sciences and government clients, access to INRALS, our international life sciences recruitment network, and the sourcing tools, job boards and CRM to run an efficient desk.
  • Development and progression: ongoing events, mentoring from a highly experienced manager, and regular reviews. We are a small team with a defined pathway from Consultant to Senior Consultant to Manager. The route up is there if you want it, but equally, success can be by becoming a highly expert, independent operator who owns their desk.
  • Flexible working: flexible hours, work from home 2 days a week, part-time options, and the ability to work from overseas for up to six weeks.
  • Leave that recognises you: Loyalty Leave (increasing to five extra days per year), Birthday Leave and paid parental leave.
  • A mature, autonomous culture: a grown-up environment where you organise your own time and work, measured on outcomes, with an Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing support, a modern St Leonards office, a fully stocked kitchen (breakfast or lunch on the company), and a supportive team.
