Support national healthcare decision-making through expert analysis and stakeholder engagement.
Our Client, a Government based Department, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HTA Assessment Officer to join their team supporting the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) and related advisory groups. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the evaluation and listing of medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and make a real impact on public health outcomes.
About the Role
As an HTA Officer, you will support the end-to-end process of managing applications for medicine listings on the PBS. This role blends project coordination, analytical writing, and stakeholder engagement, while working closely with a team of pharmacists, researchers, and policy experts.
You’ll work across policy briefs, scientific reports, and committee support documentation—helping to shape the information presented to high-level government committees and stakeholders.
This position is offered as a 12-month maternity leave contract, with the potential for extension depending on team needs and budget reassessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the assessment and preparation of applications submitted to PBAC and related expert committees
- Provide administrative and secretariat support for key meetings, including PBAC and working groups
- Draft scientific/technical commentaries, policy briefs, and reports for a range of audiences
- Respond to enquiries from group mailboxes and liaise with companies, clinicians, and consumers
- Support committee members and internal teams with timely, accurate information
- Collaborate with a national team across Sydney and Canberra, including pharmacists and research professionals
We’re looking for someone who brings a strong foundation in pharmacy, health, or biomedical sciences, and who thrives in a fast-paced, policy-focused environment. Experience in HTA, PBS processes, or clinical research is an advantage, but not essential.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in pharmacy, health science, nursing, public health or a related field
- Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities
- High-level written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a policy or government environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems
- Flexibility to attend the office at least 1 day per week (based in any capital city)
- Understanding of PBS processes or experience supporting expert committees
- Familiarity with HTA principles or pharmaceutical evaluation
- Experience working with senior government officials or technical experts
You’ll be joining a collaborative and highly skilled team led by experienced Assistant Directors and EL1 staff, many of whom are qualified pharmacists. While the broader team is based across Sydney and the ACT, you’ll have the flexibility to work from any capital city office.
