Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and managing a team of 13, the role involves collaborating closely with the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee. There will be cross functional interactions with both the fundraising and communications teams working towards the same end goals and outcomes.
Key role responsibilities:
- Research Strategy - Drive and implement AGITG’s research strategy by prioritising impactful clinical trials, improving equitable access to trials, and supporting the development of the in-house Clinical Research Centre. Strengthen partnerships, secure diverse funding, and lead effective communication of research activities to stakeholders and committees.
- Team leadership and people management - Lead a multidisciplinary Research Team of 13 and foster a collaborative work environment, with direct management of five Team Leads. Ensure effective resource allocation, strategic alignment, and integration with broader AGITG teams and initiatives.
- Strategic oversight and management of the AGITG research portfolio - Identify opportunities, manage risks, and support the Research Team Leads across development, operations, and quality. This includes overseeing research funding, stakeholder engagement, trial compliance, and continuous improvement of research processes and systems.
- Strengthen and expand strategic collaborative partnerships - Initiate and strengthen collaborations with local and international industry partners and oncology groups to expand AGITG’s research activities, enhance its leadership in GI cancer research, and grow revenue streams.
- Other duties - Contribute to organisational process improvements, participate in cross-functional networks and AGITG activities, and undertake additional duties as required.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in disciplines relevant to clinical trials, project management and/or leadership with a current ICH GCP certification.
- 10-15 years’ experience in a relevant discipline spanning Pharmaceutical, CRO, Academia or investigator lead organisation.
- Extensive experience in clinical trial operations including budgeting with a strong knowledge of processes, guidelines and standards.
- Strong leadership with a positive attitude to support achievement of goals and objectives.
- Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders, both new and existing.
- Confident in communicating with audiences at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Highly organised with the ability to flex with changing priorities.
- Ability to travel occasionally.
