About the Role

  • Contract role until 30 June 2026
  • $120,000 to $137,000 ($77.45 to $88.34 per hour) 
  • Sydney CDB location - hybrid working options
The role of Senior Project Officer is part of the Antimicrobial Use and Resistance in Australia (AURA) surveillance program.  This program coordinates data from a range of sources to provide a comprehensive and integrated picture of patterns and trends of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and antimicrobial use in human health across Australia.  The role involves a range of research, analytic, writing, planning, project management, consultation, collaboration and stakeholder management activities across a range of technically complex areas, to advance the Commission’s work to improve safety and quality of health care.
  
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Under guidance of the Manager, AURA, lead the planning and implementation of strategies and national guidance to support activities of the AURA Project
  • Undertake project management activities including project planning and documentation, research, implementation, monitoring and reporting on progress of the project; providing recommendations about managing risk, and identifying and proposing solutions. This work may involve managing procurement and budgets, and oversight, of contractors to undertake elements of the work of the AURA Project
  • Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and other documents for a range of audiences on a range of complex healthcare issues
  • Identify, review, analyse and summarise relevant material, published literature, websites, policy papers and other materials to prepare papers to inform clinical policy and program direction
  • Keep current knowledge of relevant strategic and clinical issues, and investigate and advise how they may be addressed by the Commission
  • Consult with experts and stakeholders in the development of strategies and guidance for the AURA Project, including coordination of consultation processes
  • Participate in, and present to, committee meetings, forums and workshops on relevant topics, and provide secretariat support to relevant committees and expert groups as required
About You 
To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and ideally have: 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, or experience in a health-related area.
  • Demonstrated high-level project planning and management experience in complex environments
  • Experience in writing to a high standard for a range of audiences and in different formats, particularly involving data and analyses
  • Experience in analysing, interpreting and utilising literature reviews and searches of grey material and websites
  • Experience in analysing evidence and developing conceptual models and approaches to complex problems
  • Experience in policy development at a national- and/or jurisdictional-level and preferably within a healthcare context
  • Experience consulting and liaising with senior clinical and health personnel
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and EndNote applications
  • Excellent knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and an understanding of issues regarding safety and quality in health care and AMR or related topics including communicable diseases and public health.
