An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced Analytics Manager (EL1) to join a federal health agency shaping Australia’s hospital funding and classification frameworks. In this leadership role, you will oversee complex statistical modelling and data analysis projects that directly influence national healthcare pricing and policy decisions.

As an Analytics Manager, you will lead analytical initiatives supporting activity-based funding, manage stakeholder relationships, and guide a team of analysts to deliver data-driven insights that improve transparency and efficiency across the health system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and refinement of statistical models supporting healthcare classifications and funding policy.
  • Oversee the analysis of hospital and aged care data to answer complex policy and pricing questions.
  • Prepare and present technical papers and analytical insights to senior executives, advisory committees, and working groups.
  • Provide expert technical advice to cross-functional teams across analytics, classification, and policy areas.
  • Foster collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to support classification and pricing projects.
  • Drive process improvement across coding, documentation, and data management practices.
About You
  • Strong background in data analytics, statistics, econometrics, or actuarial science, ideally within healthcare or government.
  • Demonstrated experience leading analytical or modelling projects and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Expertise with SAS, SQL, Python, or similar tools for data analysis and model development.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets, communicate technical insights clearly, and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance detail with the broader policy and funding context.
  • Experienced leader who can guide a small analytical team and deliver high-quality outputs under limited direction.
