We are working with a respected Commonwealth agency to bring an experienced APS6 Communications Officer into their Corporate Affairs team. This is a great opportunity for a skilled communicator who enjoys variety, autonomy, and supporting meaningful government work that impacts health and aged care outcomes nationally.
The Role
- Must be an Australian Citizen.
- 12 month labour hire (with strong potential to extend) based in Sydney
- Classification: APS6
This is a hands on role suited to someone who can confidently translate complex information into clear, accessible content, partner with subject matter experts, and build strong relationships across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver communications that enhance awareness and understanding across internal and external audiences.
- Draft, edit and proofread content to a high standard, presenting technical and complex material in plain English.
- Support the development of proactive communication plans and campaigns.
- Collaborate with digital, events and education teams to deliver cohesive communication outcomes.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, manage competing priorities and navigate complex environments.
- Monitor communication risks and support consistency of messaging and branding across all channels.
- Strong writing, editing and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, polished work with minimal revision.
- Confidence working independently while also contributing to a high performing team.
- The ability to understand organisational priorities and how communications can support them.
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years’ experience in a communications or similar role.
- Understanding of government frameworks and established relationships within a public sector environment.
- Experience with Office 365; exposure to Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) is beneficial but not essential.
