About the Agency
This branch is responsible for evaluating new prescription medicines and guiding regulatory decisions to ensure they are safe, effective and available when needed. Within it, the section reviews applications for minor variations, assesses product information for new generic medicines, contributes to tradename considerations, and manages procurement for external evaluations and expert advice. Together, they support consistent, timely and high quality evaluation processes across the organisation.


About the Role
We're working with a federal government agency seeking a capable APS6 Project & Procurement Officer to join a small, supportive team. This role suits someone who enjoys balancing procurement coordination with project delivery, while contributing to work that genuinely impacts public health outcomes.
You’ll manage procurement activities for external evaluation services, support contracts across multiple branches, and lead section projects that help streamline the prescription medicines evaluation process. It’s a great mix of stakeholder engagement, process improvement and hands on delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and support a small team in the External Evaluation function
  • Coordinate procurement, contracts and expert advice panels
  • Review and maintain procedures and processes to improve consistency
  • Lead section projects and contribute to strategic and operational planning
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and support business needs
  • Provide onboarding, training and general administrative support as required
What you’ll bring:
  • MUST HAVE - Sound knowledge of Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines and the PGPA Act
  • Strong communication, relationship building and problem solving skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience managing projects and/or a Cert IV in Procurement (highly regarded)
  • Ability to work effectively in a small, collaborative team
  • Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain a police check
