Our client, a government agency dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the Australian public, is seeking Technical Officers (APS5) to join their team. This role is ideal for science professionals with laboratory experience in biological sciences or chemistry, particularly in regulated environments, who are passionate about ensuring therapeutic goods meet the highest quality standards.
As a Technical Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting laboratory testing programs, vaccine batch release, and investigations into product quality, contributing to both national and international regulatory commitments.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and report on laboratory testing of therapeutic goods to verify quality standards and support regulatory investigations.
- Draft laboratory reports for review and approval by testing or project managers.
- Contribute to the development and validation of new testing methods, ensuring reliability and compliance with accreditation standards.
- Maintain laboratory records and data within information management systems in line with NATA accreditation and ISO/GMP requirements.
- Support the development of testing manuals and SOPs and provide guidance to new staff.
- Manage laboratory consumables and liaise with suppliers to maintain equipment and stock levels.
- Undertake testing, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory instruments, resolving technical issues as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities and support broader branch initiatives and international collaborations.
- Tertiary qualification in biological sciences and/or chemistry.
- Previous laboratory experience within an ISO17025, GMP-licensed, or equivalent regulated environment will be highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical reports.
- Practical experience with laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders, contributing to regulatory outcomes.
