Our client, a government agency dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the Australian public, is seeking a Microbiologist (APS5 equivalent) to join their team. As such, you will support microbiological testing programs, investigations into product quality, and regulatory assessment activities to ensure therapeutic goods meet required standards.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct, analyse, and report on microbiological testing of therapeutic goods to verify quality standards and support regulatory investigations.
  • Draft laboratory reports documenting the results of testing for review and approval by testing or project managers.
  • Participate in the development and validation of new testing methods, ensuring their reliability and suitability for regulatory use.
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory records in line with quality system and accreditation requirements, ensuring accuracy and clarity of data.
  • Contribute to the development of testing manuals and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, ensuring required consumables are available and liaise with suppliers as needed.
  • Train and guide new staff in laboratory methods, testing techniques, and use of equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the section and broader laboratory initiatives.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Tertiary qualification in science with a major in Microbiology (or equivalent).
  • Hold Australian citizenship. 
  • Experience in microbiological laboratory testing and analytical techniques.
  • Experience working within a laboratory quality management system (ISO 17025 highly regarded).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high‑quality technical reports.
  • Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
